Dr. Edmund Choi is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who is continually active in orthopedic and spinal research. He has authored over 20 publications and abstracts and lectured at national and regional meetings on the topics of osteoporosis, pediatric and adult spine reconstruction, bone and spinal tumors, and fractures.
A graduate of the University of California at San Diego in La Jolla, California, he earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Choi completed his surgical internship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York, and his orthopedic residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, with a pediatric orthopedic rotation at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Choi completed additional training through an orthopedic spine and neurosurgical fellowship at San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders in San Diego, California.
With extensive training in the latest surgical and nonsurgical methods and techniques, Dr. Choi’s goal is to assure his patients get the most effective treatment for their spine ailment. During his years of experience and practice, he has developed expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery, management and treatment of adult and pediatric scoliosis, evaluation and treatment of cervical and lumbar disc disease, and osteoporosis and vertebral compression fractures. Dedicated to keeping patients active throughout every stage of life, Dr. Choi uses evidence-based treatment plans tailored to patients’ individual needs to help them get back to what they love to do.
Dr. Choi is on the Education Committee for the Scoliosis Research Society and serves on the Journal Editorial Review Board for the spine and trauma sections for Orthopedics Journal. He is available to see patients in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley.
Dr. Choi lives in Thousand Oaks with his wife and two children. In his (limited) free time, Dr Choi pursues a long-standing avocation of playing basketball and tennis.
